A hit song is a song that can make a connection with a large demographic of people.Trending songs are considered to be hit songs nowadays based on the content in the song, and the popularity of a song among the general public. Songs that are trendy usually make a connection with people when the concepts are based on experiences or moods. Record labels want artist who make trendy songs because when people make a connection to your song, or you, they want to buy what you have to offer to show support.
 Make A Hit Song
When creating a true hit song, there are three elements that go into the creation process.
1. The Beat(example)
this beat present a motivational mood, therefore the concept of the song would be to become successful in life.
2. The hook
3. The concept and lyrical content
The Beat
The beat is the backbone of your song, and it will determine the type of song that you make. The beat enhances the experience you are speaking of in your music and plays a part in the emotional affects in people when they hear your song.
The Hook
Need Beats? When you have  a great beat ready to record to, you want to create a hook(chorus). You can create your hook based on the mood that the beat gives you. Every beat has a certain mood or riff to it. Everyone who listen to a song remembers mainly the hook to the song before the verses, mainly because the hook to a song is the most repeated part of the song. So to have a popular song you need a catchy chorus, nothing too sophisticated but straight to the point to bring in the verses and the concept of your record. You can get ideas from mainstream artists who make trendy songs and incorporate your style and uniqueness into making the chorus.

The Concept And Content
A concept is the main idea or basically the story your song will tell to your listeners. The concept of your song will determine how many people like your song. Making a club record is great, but without a concept behind it, it will not be relevant for a long time. Concepts in music are what bring on emotional triggers and relation among your audience. More people will buy and listen to your song if they can make a connection to your music and relive an experience or feeling. Your concept can even be able to create an experience or feeling in people in certain situations. The hook introduces the concept of your song and makes your song catchy. The verse and lyrical content holds the story or the mood behind your song. Make sure your song and all of your lyrics are in relation to your hook/concept of your song.
"Creating" The hit
hip hop business
Creating hit songs comes down to music marketing.
A song may not necessarily be a "hit" but you can make it a trending song by getting social reach for your song using youtube as your main priority focus. Having a video lets people experience concept of your song more vividly. Having a video that matches a concept to a good song will make it even more popular. Nowadays you need more than just a good song, you need the image and the authenticity to go with it. Your music is a product when you decide to sell it, and people will only buy songs that have an impact on them, or the songs that are the "hits". If you have a good song and you get it in front of the world's eyes it will become a hit song, not necessarily everyone will consider your song a hit but there are people in the world who have different taste in music so having no talent is somewhat non existent.
                                                                                                Hit Songs Are Overrated
To many artists have "hit songs" based on their social reach, but the dynamics of a hit song are bigger than creating trends. Make music that people can relate to or have an understanding of the concept. The strcture of your song and the feelings it creates in your listeners will make it relevant for years to come. Even if your song isn't on the radio or trending, people will still sing the words to it when it comes on simply because when it first came out it had an impact on them. Make songs from your heart. Instead of making the music that people want to hear, make the music you want to make and you will find success coming your way. Many people share the same experience as you and will be able to relate with whatever you make music about.
Being Genuine
Making a hit song is bigger than just having a great song. People need to make a connection with you as well as your song. Your song builds fans, but your image will bring the trust from your fans. From their, your fans will support you and your grind in music. Be true to the music you make and you will create a demand for you. To many people try to look for ways to make a hit song, instead of making the music that they enjoy making, and mastering their craft. Be creative and reach new audiences with your music. No songs will blow up over night without a work ethic and being unique through music. Take your time and never rush into making great music, because great music comes from your heart, it is never forced!
Energy Levels
Having energy and soul in your music will make your songs shine even that much more. Make sure you project your vocals and use your emotion to intensify the sound of your voice. Use the mood of the song to your advantage.
